This year's virtual/hybrid fest will allow our attendees to interact and participate in live-stream Q&A panels with nearly all the filmmakers -- a truly international event.
While we certainly miss our in-person festivals, the ability to "meet" our filmmakers from all over the world has brought a level of excitement and connectedness that we will never forget. This year we will enjoy one in-person reception, and we look forward to ramping back up to our fully in-person festival next year.
***Our films begins streaming on-demand on Monday, June 21, and our live-stream events begin on Thursday, June 24 ***
Live-streaming highlights include our Nevada Woman of Achievement. This year the honor goes to Jemma Jones for her accomplishments as one of the busiest producers in Nevada. Our board member Danette Tull of the Nevada Film Office will sit down with Jemma on Thursday and explore the nitty gritty of line producing, and what it takes to be successful in this role.
On Saturday, we honor our 2021 Nevada Women Filmmakers of the year, UNLV Film graduates Constanza & Domenica Castro for their successes in creating socially conscious content for film, television and the web. We are pleased to present a live interview and Q&A with the filmmakers, conducted by our board member, Dr. Heather Addison, Chair of UNLV's Department of Film.
Also on Saturday, NWFFest is proud to present Script Supervisors: Unsung Heroes of Film & TV. The Script Supervisor has long been a female-dominated (and under-appreciated) role on set. We will welcome some of the top names in the industry, whose credits include, Black Panther, Star Wars Episode IX, The Hangover, and many, many more. Caryn Ruby will moderate this all-star panel as we learn the ins and outs of the Script Supervisor and why no one should shout "action" without one.
Are you missing the in-person connection? We are too. Stay tuned for info about our Saturday Evening Filmmakers' Mixer. We look forward to celebrating our first post-pandemic, in-person event with our locals and visiting filmmakers who are able to travel in this year.
We conclude streaming on Sunday with the 7th Annual Femmy Awards, a ceremony honoring our most outstanding filmmakers. Awards will include the Spirit of Activism, Best Female Protagonist, Best Nevada Filmmaker, LBGTQ-themed, as well as student, fiction and documentary awards.
Once again, we are grateful that the virtual experience allows us to welcome more filmmakers than ever before. Please remember to begin streaming films on June 21 and tune in to our live events starting June 24. And please follow us on social media for more news and announcements.
From all of us at NWFFest, we look forward to seeing you soon.
Cheers! :)
