About Nikki —
Nikki Corda is the founder and executive director of the Nevada Women’s Film Festival.
Nikki grew up in an entertainment business household in Las Vegas. A graduate of the film program at Boston University, she spent her early career in the world of feature film development in Los Angeles, with stints at Twentieth Century Fox, Michael Douglas’s company at Paramount Pictures, and Propaganda Films.
Nikki began producing with Urban Rescuers, an animal advocacy documentary which is a recipient of the “Best Documentary” award from the Valley Film Festival in Los Angeles, and aired on local PBS affiliates.
It was during this project that she discovered her true passion for documentaries. Nikki was inspired to start her business Life-Portraits® while working on a biographical film about her father, Mike Corda, and realized that everyone has a fascinating life history which should be preserved.
It was this thinking that led her to delve into writing and complete an MFA in Creative Nonfiction at Sierra Nevada College. Nikki now splits her time between teaching film and English at NSC and CSN, writing for Story Terrace, and producing NWFFest each year. She hopes to find the time to return to filmmaking herself, and has many documentaries left to make.
Nikki Corda’s filmmaking work includes creating documentaries for her business “Life-Portraits” and the award-winning film, “Urban Rescuers.” What’s remarkable about Nikki Corda is not only her creative talent, but also her dedication for providing resources in the film community. People may refer to the film industry as a "male-dominated space," however those people haven’t met the likes of Nikki, who has created a platform dedicated to showcasing women filmmakers by founding the Nevada Women’s Film Festival (and serving as the executive director, too!). On top of all that, she’s a professor at Nevada State College for both Visual Media and English. For more info on NWFFest, visit
