Osmosis Films_Call For Submissions_2023-1.png

Development Funding - Now OPEN

Submitted by Osmosis Films (NY-Based Production Company)

Osmosis Films is seeking submissions from filmmakers for projects in development or the early-stages of production for consideration for development funding. Osmosis partners with selected films to assist with creative development, provides production services, and takes projects to market to secure further financing and distribution.

About Osmosis Films:
Osmosis Films is an award-winning creative studio which combines global production resources and a unique collaborative process to bring powerful narratives to life across all media types and platforms. Collectively, our team has created premium documentary content for HBO, ESPN 30 for 30, A&E, Amazon, A24, Vice, and other platforms.

Going Varsity in Mariachi, directed by Sam Osborn and Alejandra Vasquez, was submitted to last year’s open call. The film premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival as part of the US Documentary Competition. In the competitive world of high school mariachi, the musicians from the South Texas borderlands reign supreme. Under the guidance of Coach Abel Acuña, the teenage captains of Edinburg North High School’s acclaimed team must turn a shoestring budget and diverse crew of inexperienced musicians into state champions.

What We’re Looking For:
We are inspired by character-driven stories with access to rarely seen worlds and approaches in non-traditional storytelling. The right project will be one that Osmosis can join at the ground floor as an active creative partner with an early-stage investment.

What We Bring:
In addition to providing funding to support development, Osmosis has robust production and post-production infrastructure and resources, and a wealth of experience bringing premium documentaries to life.

How To Apply:
Projects can be submitted here and will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
